In her talk, Catherine Hall looked back to her time as part of the women’s liberation movement in Birmingham in the 1970s, and spoke about putting together the original ‘Birmingham Women: Past & Present’ trail, and what life was like as a feminist in Birmingham in this period.
Catherine withdrew from her first doctorate at the University of Birmingham to participate in second-wave feminism in Birmingham, including teaching women’s history classes at the Birmingham and Midland Institute which made it a particularly appropriate venue for this ‘Women’s History Birmingham’ event.
Watch the lecture in its entirety in this film produced by Rachel Gillies.
